What Size Full-Length Mirror Do You Need? (Chart by Height & Room)
The standard full-length mirror runs 48–72 inches tall, but the right size for you depends on two things: how tall you are, and where it’s going. Here’s how to pick.
Size chart by mirror height
Mirror height decides how much of you the reflection shows when you stand a few feet back. Use this as a starting point:
| Mirror height | What it shows | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 48–54 in | Head to knee | Small spaces, kids’ rooms, a getting-ready glance |
| 55–60 in | Head to shin | Most adults, apartments, tight bedrooms |
| 60–65 in | Full head-to-toe | The sweet spot for most homes |
| 66–78 in | Full body with room to spare | Tall users, leaning floor mirrors, a statement wall |
If you want a true head-to-toe reflection with a little margin, aim for a mirror at least as tall as you are minus about 10 inches — because you stand back from it. For a 5’10” (70 in) person, a 60-in mirror shows the full body from a normal viewing distance.
Size by room
Width matters as much as height once the mirror is on the wall:
- Bedroom / dressing area: 24–36 in wide, 60–65 in tall. Enough to see a full outfit. See our large mirrors for floor and statement sizes.
- Entryway or narrow hallway: go taller and narrower — 20–28 in wide keeps the passage clear while still giving a full-length check.
- Living room statement piece: a wide leaning mirror, 30–36 in across, anchors the wall and bounces daylight. Our floor mirrors run up to 36×78 inches.
Leaning vs. mounted changes the size you want
A leaning floor mirror sits a few inches off the wall and tips back slightly, so it reads a touch shorter than its measurement — size up if you’re between two heights. A wall-mounted mirror gives you the full height, so you can go slightly smaller. All our mirrors ship ready to hang, with hardware included, and can be leaned or mounted.
